Originally written for piano*, “Melancholic Waltz”** is a composition that captures the essence of the profound connection between music, emotions, and memories. Inspired by the Oscar Wilde quote, “Music is the art which is most nigh to tears and memories”, this piece takes the listener on a journey through a range of emotions, from wistful nostalgia to profound sadness.

As the melancholic waltz progresses, the listener is invited to reflect on their own memories and emotions, and to find solace in the beauty of the music. With its haunting melody and evocative harmonies, “Melancholic Waltz” is a tribute to the power of music to express the depths of human experience. (Roxana Moișanu)

* This is the lever harp version. Compositional adjustments had to be made to accommodate the limitations of the lever harp. This version retains the original key (B minor) in which it was originally composed for piano. There are a few lever changes, but not difficult considering the slow tempo of the piece. Every lever change is notated in the score.

** This piece is also available on pedal harp in the keys of B minor and B-flat minor.
